DESPITE the disappointment of yesterday's result against
Manchester United, the Club and it's fans can still hold their
heads up high today.
Not only did the team once again prove stern opposition for one of
the best sides in the Premiership, but also off the pitch, West Ham
United and it¹s supporters and staff have received
widespread praise today for the fitting tribute laid on for
footballing legend George Best.
In near enough all the national media this morning, the Upton Park faithful have been highly commended for their exemplary behaviour throughout the tribute lead by former Hammer Sir Trevor Brooking CBE and former red Sir Bobby Charlton CBE.
Bobby Charlton himself thanked the Club for providing a fitting tribute to his former Manchester United team mate prior to the first match the team were playing since George Best passed away on Friday afternoon. A minute's applause was then impeccably observed by both sets of fans. This has been highlighted by the press today and has prompted many phone calls and e-mails to the Club to thank and compliment West Ham United and it's supporters.
