IT'S another strong West Ham United squad which prepares for
the visit to White Hart Lane on Sunday, including players fresh
from international duty like Paul Konchesky, Danny Gabbidon,
Christian Dailly and Anton Ferdinand.
Mark Noble is in the squad after captaining the England Under-19s
to victory on Wednesday night and is one of the players vying to
replace the injured Nigel Reo-Coker, along with Dailly, Carl
Fletcher and Shaun Newton.
Pards also names four ex-Spurs players in his travelling
party - Teddy Sheringham, Bobby Zamora, Matty Etherington and
Konchesky.
Goalkeeper Roy Carroll has returned to full training following a
knee injury, but after only one day of training on Thursday Pards
is unlikely to risk the Northern Ireland international following
the solid form of Shaka Hislop.
Hislop went off in the 1-0 victory over West Brom at Upton Park two
weeks ago, but is fit enough to be named in the squad.
"The goalkeeping situation is one that I will have to think
hard over," he admitted. "Roy Carroll returned to
training on Thursday, which was his first full day. But with only
one day of training under his belt it is unlikely that he will be
available on Sunday.
"Shaka has played very well since he came into the side, has
done a great job, and I'm confident that he will start on
Sunday."
Nigel Reo-Coker will be absent due to a fractured ankle, which is
likely to keep him out for between four and five weeks. The only
other player in the Hammers treatment room is goalkeeper Jimmy
Walker, who continues his rehabilitation after knee surgery to
repair a damaged cruciate ligament.
The squad to face Spurs is as follows:
Hislop (GK), Bywater (GK), Etherington, Mullins, Gabbidon, Repka,
Konchesky, Ward, Collins, Dailly, Bellion, Newton, Ferdinand,
Harewood, Zamora, Clarke, Sheringham, Noble, Benayoun, Fletcher,
Aliadiere.
