TONY Carr was delighted to see his Under-18 side drawn at home in
the Third Round of the FA Youth Cup, but admits that Luton Town
will pose a stiff test as Hammers make their first appearance in
the competition.
"Luton at home is going to be a very tough one,"
admitted Tony. "I am obviously grateful that we are at home
but Luton is a very tough start for us.
"They are going to be physically strong and committed, purely
because we are in the Premiership we will start as favourites so
that will excite them. I think they will be pleased about this draw
and I think that they will fancy their chances. But like all Cup
competitions if you are going to do well in the competition you
have got to do well against whoever you are drawn
against.
"Obviously since the split from the South East Counties League some eight or nine years ago, we don't know too much about Luton Town at youth level, but all I do know is that it will be a very tough game.
"We are hoping to play the game just before Christmas but this will have to be confirmed with all parties. I would add that we will be taking nothing for granted, it will be a very difficult task for us. We have got to be as prepared for this game as if we were playing against Manchester United."
