Konchesky Receives England Call-up

HAMMERS defender Paul Konchesky has been rewarded for his consistent form this season by receiving an England call-up for this weekend's friendly against Argentina in Geneva.

Konchesky has put it consistently good performances for West Ham United since the season began and been watched by England manager Sven Goran Eriksson on several occasions. With the World Cup finals just around the corner this friendly gives Sven the chance to look at some of the other English talent out there before he decides on his final squad to take out to Germany.

Konchesky last represented England in a friendly against Australia played at Upton Park in February 2003. With Ashley Cole injured this is the perfect opportunity for the 24-year-old to impress the England coach though he will have competition from Chelsea's Wayne Bridge for a place in the starting line-up, who has also been re-called to the squad.

The match is being played on Saturday November 12, kick-off 4.45pm.
