Exclusive: Marlon Signs New Deal

West Ham United has agreed a contract extension with striker Marlon Harewood, keeping the 25-year-old forward at Upton Park until at least June 2007.

Marlon, who joined the Club from Nottingham Forest for £500,000 in November 2003, was delighted to have extended his Hammers contract.

"The environment around West Ham United is excellent," he said, "and the Club is ambitious and looking to move forward.

"I want to play in the Premiership with West Ham United. We are still right in the promotion race, with a very important game against Preston coming up on Saturday.

"Promotion from this division is tough to achieve, but it's important that everyone stays focused on winning the next game and making sure there are no slip ups.

"It's very tight at the top of the League, there are a lot of teams pushing for the promotion places, but with our size and strength of squad we're confident that we can do it.

"The Championship is still very open. The leaders are not looking as secure as they were a few weeks ago and a couple of wins we'll see us right back in contention again.

"Automatic promotion is a tough ask, but that's what we've been aiming for all season and we still believe that we can achieve it."
