WEST Ham United's promotion triumph has been recognised in the
House of Commons, with Ms Lyn Brown, the new MP for West Ham,
voicing her congratulations to the House on Hammers Play-off Final
victory.
Ms Brown also praised the work West Ham United has done in the
local community and the Club's continued role in helping to
regenerate the East London area.
In voicing the motion, Ms Brown said: "This House
congratulates West Ham United Football Club on its recent success
in securing promotion to the Premier League; expresses its thanks
to the Chairman, Manager, players and fabulous supporters for their
superb contribution in placing the area on the map, and the
resultant positive boost to the local economy; and believes that
their promotion augers well for the Olympic bid, which if
successful will provide an historic opportunity to invigorate the
UK and radically transform East London."
Whilst Ministers cannot sign both, the Minister of State at the
Home Office, Tony MacNulty MP (Harrow East) and the Minister for
London, Jim Fitzpatrick MP (Poplar & Canning Town), who are
both season ticket holders, fully support the congratulations.
