WEST Ham United are delighted to announce that Anton Ferdinand has
signed a three year extension to his contract at Upton Park.
The 20-year-old Academy graduate was instrumental in helping
Hammers win promotion to the Premiership last season and over the
past year the England Under-21 star has matured into a defender of
immense promise.
Manager Alan Pardew said: "The Club is extremely pleased to
have secured Anton Ferdinand on a three-year extension to his
contract.
"Anton has made rapid progress over the past year and if he
continues to play as well as he has been doing then we are going to
have a great player on our hands."
Anton made his League debut for the Hammers against Preston North
End in August 2003, but really came into his own in the final
stages of last season when he formed an imperious partnership with
Elliott Ward at the heart of the West Ham United defence,
impressing with his commanding displays as Hammers chased down a
place in the Premier League.
Anton was equally delighted to have secured his future at Upton
Park.
He said: "I'm really happy to have signed an extension to
my contract and am looking forward to playing for the Club in the
Premier League this season.
"Achieving promotion with West Ham United last season was the
greatest moment in my career so far and hopefully I can continue to
play well this season and ensure that we stay in the Premier
League.
"West Ham United is a fantastic club that deserves to be back
in the Premiership and there is a great atmosphere around the
Club at the moment."
