Hard Work Goes On

West Ham United supporters can rest assured that plenty of work is currently going on behind the scenes to strengthen the first team squad ahead of the new Premiership campaign.

With former Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll already snapped up and new, extended contracts signed by the likes of Teddy Sheringham, Mark Noble, Christian Dailly and Tomas Repka, manager Alan Pardew has been working hard to assemble his squad before the big kick-off against Blackburn Rovers on August 13.

Despite the frenzied media speculation that surrounds all Premiership clubs at this time of year, the West Ham United boss and his board of directors are remaining focused on the task in hand and hope to reveal more good news soon.

Managing Director Paul Aldridge says: "We are actually in talks with a number of potential new signings at this present moment, but I'm sure our supporters will understand that negotiations can take some time and must remain confidential in order for us to conclude them successfully.

"Rest assured, we are out there talking to a number of targets identified by Alan Pardew, and we hope to have some positive news very shortly.

"The speculation that appears in the media is nothing more than that, and as soon as we are in a position to announce a new signing, we will do so here on the official website.

"In the meantime, I would like to thank our supporters for their patience and continued support, and we look forward to seeing you all back at Upton Park for our return to the Premiership on August 13."
