THE Hammers squad to face Norwich City combines a good blend of
youth and experience, with five recent Academy graduates named
among the regular squad of senior players.
With several senior players missing, Alan Pardew has included
17-year-old winger Kyel Reid in his matchday squad, who signed
professional forms before the recent game against Leeds.
French striker Youssef Sofiane is also included alongside
midfielder Mark Noble, who has made both his first-team appearances
in cup competition this season.
Chris Cohen and Trent McClenahan are the other promising young
players who will be hoping to boost their first-team credentials,
having made appearances from the bench over the holiday period.
Goalkeeper Jimmy Walker returns to the squad after recovering from
a groin operation, meaning on-loan Robert Burch has been allowed to
rejoin Spurs.
On the injured list are Teddy Sheringham (ankle), Steve Lomas
(calf), Matty Etherington (groin) and Nigel Reo-Coker (flu). Bobby
Zamora misses the game after picking up five yellow cards this
season and Gavin Williams is cup-tied.
The team to be play Norwich City will be chosen from the following
squad:
Bywater (GK), Walker (GK), Repka, Fletcher, Powell, Chadwick,
Mackay, McClenahan, Rebrov, Noble, Harewood, Cohen, Ferdinand,
Melville, Mullins, Sofiane, Reid.
West Ham United v Norwich City at Upton Park, kick-off 3.00pm.
