Captain Determined To See In New Year With A Bang!

HAMMERS captain, Nigel Reo-Coker, said that the players will be looking to put the frustrations of losing to Wigan behind them and go all out for three points against their London rivals, Charlton Athletic, at The Valley on New Year's Eve.

Nigel, who played his second full game since returning from his ankle injury, said the players want to go into next Monday's clash with Chelsea at the Boleyn Ground on a positive note and that means getting a good result at Charlton.

Nigel said: "It was disappointing, the way it went against Wigan. We didn't play or create things like we have been doing. It happens, of course, in games to every team and the only way you put that behind you is to put on a good performance and get the right result in your next game.

"For me personally, the Wigan match has gone already. I've put it out of my mind. All I want to do and I know the rest of the lads are of the same frame of mind, is to focus on Charlton.

"The result and the performance wasn't good, but it will be forgotten if we win at Charlton and we'll be trying our best to do just that. We're a strong bunch and there's a great team spirit so we will be looking to go forward together.

"We're not going to waste time beating ourselves up over one game like this. We know we're better than that and being strong has seen us get good results this season and prove a few people wrong and we want to keep on doing that."

With a few players still on the injury list, Hammers are boosted by Nigel's return.

"The ankle feels fine. I've had a couple of full games now and it's a case of just getting fitter and stronger in each game. I've got to make sure I rest properly in between because the games are thick and fast at this stage of the season. The next one at Charlton is nearly upon us and all we're thinking about is getting a positive result."
