TWO goals in as many minutes late in the game saw West Ham United
Ladies robbed of a point as they lost 3-1 away to Portsmouth.
On a sunny day at Fareham Town the Hammers Ladies once again proved
that they can compete at this higher level following their
promotion last season.
Both sides had chances in the frantic opening exchanges of the
game, but it was the home side that got off to the best possible
start when they took the lead after only 10 minutes.
Hammers fought back though and as the first-half drew to a close
Nicola Dunsden was brought down in the penalty area and Sam Pittuck
stepped up to fire home the spot kick and make it 1-1 at half-time.
The second-half was an even affair, although Hammers goalkeeper
Clare Lacey was forced to pull off some fine saves to keep the
scores level. At the other end, Lindsay Morgan and Sam Pittuck
might have done better with good chances.
Hammers looked on course for a point until the home side netted two
late goals to secure an undeserved 3-1 victory.
