Serge: More To Come

Sergei Rebrov is pleased to be off the goal scoring mark for West Ham - but says he has yet to play his best for the club.

Sergei's spectacular free kick sealed a 3-2 win over Notts. County on Tuesday evening and he says:

"It gave me confidence to start the game because I know I didn't play well in the first games of the season.

"I lost a lot of time but now I am feeling much better and I am ready to play for West Ham.

"I think I am fully fit now but we will see when I play whether I am or not.

"It is the gaffer's decision if I play and I respect that - he is the boss.

"If I work hard, as I am trying to do, maybe I will play - I am doing my best on the training ground and on the pitch, even if it is only for five or 10 minutes."

As for his strike, he adds:

"It was 35 metres out and I don't know if it was a mistake of the goalkeeper or a bit of luck, it was a goal.

"I didn't believe it was a goal because I didn't see it hit the net, but the main thing is I am happy to help the team get to the next round.

"It is a very good feeling when you score the first goal for your new team.

"I think it was a tough game with us going into lead twice only for them to equalise; it doesn't matter for me who scored, it was just important to get the win."

As for Notts. County's stern resistance, he adds:

"I have to think about my team and my game and it doesn't matter who we play.

"We did well in the second half, creating lots of chances, and that is what we have to do; if we do that in the league games it will be better."
