Three of the recent signings are, of course, defenders, with Chris Powell, Malky Mackay, and Calum Davenport all making their home debuts against Rotherham and helping Steve to keep a clean sheet.
But they certainly didn't look as if they had not played together as a unit before - still less that they had only had a couple of training sessions together - and Steve says:
"They are professional men and they know their job; the manager has instilled what he wants from them.
"There is good competition all round now and the new lads are good to get on with.
"You trust them and they trust you and we are getting a bit solid at the back.
"Malky and Calum are both a 'head on a stick' and have done really well - the more they play together the better they will become."
