West Ham have signed Calum Davenport on a three-month loan from
Tottenham, and he goes straight into the squad to face Sheffield
United at the weekend.
Calum, who played for Coventry against West Ham just under a fortnight ago before moving to White Hart Lane, bolsters a defence missing Christian Dailly and Anton Ferdinand.
Confirming the signing, Alan Pardew says:
"He's someone we've been looking at for a long time but obviously Tottenham were able to sign him.
"He's good in the air - an area where we have been lacking - and the move allows him and his young family to settle in the London area.
"He didn't have to come here but his decision shows great strength of character."
Alan Pardew also says there is "no truth" in stories suggesting Maurice Ross is on his way from Glasgow Rangers.
