Chris, who made a substitute appearance at Loftus Road recently, says:
"Centre of midfield is my favourite position and at QPR I was left of a three in midfield.
"I have spoken to the manager and he said to me he can't really see me as a left winger, because I haven't really got the pace that someone like Mattie has.
"So it is leaning now towards left back or central midfield; I have to keep my options open about left back because there aren't so many left footers about.
"But with Chris Powell and Rufus Brevett there, it is going to be difficult, so I just have to keep working hard - and I will learn a lot from them because of the experience they have.
"I can see them in training and take stuff from them; they have had brilliant careers and are still really good players so I just have to make sure I pick things up from them."
Chris recognises that first team opportunities, for the time being, are tough to come by because of the recent strengthening of the squad - but he has no complaints and believes the recent influx can only help, rather than hinder, his career.
"I have had a little run but obviously there have been a few new signings so it has been more difficult for me, Mark Noble, and Elliot Ward to be involved," he says.
"It is better for us a team and it is going to be a lot more competitive now because of what the new players have brought to the club."
