The Gills travel to Upton Park on 23rd October, towards the end of his loan spell, but even though he is desperate to get more first team experience, he explains:
"I don't think Alan Pardew would want me to play in that but I wouldn't either because the bottom line is I am a West Ham player.
"I have gone to Gillingham for first team games, not to detract from my position at West Ham - I wouldn't want to do anything to negatively affect West Ham's progress.
"It is just a coincidence that there is a fixture against West Ham at the end of my loan but I won't be involved in that - and wouldn't wish to be.
"I am just going to concentrate on the games that I can play which is another two in this month, including Millwall, and hopefully Gillingham will be in a better situation after that.
"If I am there longer or not I just want to do my best for West Ham and the club."
Adam is aware of the intense competition in midfield, with not even Steve Lomas, back from injury, guaranteed a place at the moment while Carl Fletcher and Nigel Reo-Coker playing so well.
"Steve Lomas is a West Ham legend and he is a great influence on the team; the manager would definitely want him in there but if Fletch and Nigel keep doing the business and the results keep coming then they will stay," he says.
"It is a tremendous squad at the moment and although I am disappointed I am not part of that I will get myself 100%, get these first team games under my belt, come back raring to go, and see what happens.
"We will see what the future holds because football changes so quickly - I am looking out for West Ham's results and I hope the lads keep doing well."
