Cash Windfall For Community Sporting Club

West Ham Deaf Football Club has secured a slice of a ¼ million pound Sports Sponsorship campaign set up by Essex-based online recruitment publisher, JobServe.  Newly formed this summer, the club had struggled to raise much-needed funds to meet the cost of pitch fees and for new kit for their first season, but now with a cash injection of £1,200 from JobServe's new scheme, their future is more secure.

The club, which is run by volunteers, joined JobServe's 'Go UK' Sports Sponsorship scheme in August 2004 and became one of many community sporting groups to enrol on the campaign.  From that moment onward, each candidate who registered on www.jobserve.com was given the chance to choose West Ham Deaf Football Club to receive up to £1 from JobServe. As word spread and more candidates chose the club, so their sponsorship funds grew and in just over three months they have accumulated more than £1,200 and the funds are still growing.

Robbie Cowling, Managing Director of JobServe and architect behind the scheme said, "I was keen for all sports at grass-roots level to be given the chance to participate in this scheme and the West Ham Deaf Football Club are worthy recipients of the first cheque to be issued from the £250,000 fund. I just hope this is the first of many cheques I will be writing out over the coming months.

West Ham Deaf Football Club's Coach, Dean Humphreys, issued the following remarks, "This is fantastic news for the club, whose players would like to play but often struggle to meet the cost of pitch fees.  We can also purchase new kit for the whole team as well.  Everyone pulled together to make this possible with club members, relatives, friends and colleagues all signing up to JobServe to help boost our funds, as well as many others who chose us randomly."

West Ham Deaf Football Club also receives help from West Ham United who allow them the use of their community training ground in Becton on a weekly basis.  The club currently have a men's team but hope to set up both a ladies and a youth team in the future.

JobServe's 'Go UK' Sports Sponsorship scheme was launched on 2nd August 2004 to help community sporting groups nationwide to raise funds for a variety of projects.
