Hammers Sign Taricco

WEST Ham United confirms the signing of Argentine defender Mauricio Taricco on a free transfer from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Buenos Aires born player arrived in England from Argentinos Juniors in 1994, signing for Ipswich for £175,000.

The tough-tackling defender made 170 appearances and scored seven goals during his four-year spell at Portman Road, before moving to White Hart Lane for £1.7 million in November 1998.

The 31-year-old made 156 appearances during his time in North London, forging a reputation as an uncompromising defender, who can operate in a number of positions along the back four.
