The game saw the return to action of Hayden Mullins after a back problem as well as another game for Steve Lomas and Don Hutchison.
Chris Cohen [70] with a penalty and Steven Gillespie [75] scored the goals.
"It was a very good performance," says Tony, who took the side in the absence of Roger Cross who was watching Scotland.
"It was solid defensively and with the experience of the older players I thought we played well, especially in the second half."
Talking about young striker Steven, who was on trial from Liverpool and is about to be released, Tony says:
"He played okay and had some good moments in the game.
"Don Hutchison laid his goal on a plate for him and he tucked it away well.
"He has been brought down for a couple of days and played but the manager, who was there, will make the ultimate assessment.
"Of course, we are pleased he scored a goal."
As for Steve Lomas, in his second consecutive reserve game, Tony says:
"Lomy was a bit tight in the hamstring but played the full 90 minutes."
Of the other positives to come from the game, Tony adds:
"The plus points were that Don and Hayden also played the full game and Jobi NcAnuff got 55 minutes."
