For the Millwall defeat West Ham were without Steve Lomas, David Connolly, Rufus Brevett, Hayden Mullins, Rob Lee, Don Hutchison, Matthew Etherington, and Richard Garcia and Peter says:
"It is always difficult when players get injured but people have come in and done their jobs fantastically well recently, such as Kevin Horlock who carried on his performance from Saturday the previous week against Crewe.
"We can't use injuries as an excuse; we have to accept it and get on with it - it happens to every club and we are no different.
"You just have to cope with the cards you are dealt with."
As for the expectancy levels surrounding the Hammers, hardly dampened by the loss at Millwall, Peter adds:
"There is always expectation at this club but I would rather that pressure than the pressure of trying to avoid relegation.
"Big players thrive on playing for big clubs and we want them to thrive playing for West Ham United - which is probably one of the top six clubs in the country with the support base and everything.
"But names don't win you anything; it is about how you perform on the pitch and we have got to utilise that."
