"I thought the fans were excellent and that helps the players big time," he says.
"Managers and coaches do talk bull for fun about the crowd being the 12th man and all that but at a club like this it really is.
"The players get as frustrated as the supporters and us, but if they see a team that is committed on the pitch they are delighted - and I think they saw that on Saturday.
"We know we can play better but we got the result, we were delighted, and we thank the fans for their support."
Peter says it was important to bounce back after the first defeat he has encountered since coming to the club, the home reverse by Fulham midweek, and he adds:
"It was massive and it was important; it shows their character and if you can produce a performance like that after a disappointing result - not performance - midweek it goes a long way towards getting you where you want to be, which is in the Premiership."
