Assessing the win over Cardiff, he says:
"I think we deserved it; we played well against a good side and our overall performance at the moment is quite high.
"Following on from Tuesday we started quite well against Cardiff and were unlucky to have one disallowed as well as Nigel hitting the post.
"Cardiff had beaten Sunderland the week before and even if they went down to 10 men, to put four past a good team like them shows they are a good side - and they are not a one man team," he adds, referring to the fact that Robert Earnshaw gets most of the attention.
"A lot of teams won around us but we have got a lot of games coming up where we feel we can pick up some points.
"They won't be easy games and hopefully we can make that ground up.
"As long as we keep picking up wins I am sure we will be up there."
David says the players did well to overcome the difficulties of the playing surface and he explains:
"The pitch isn't great but we still managed to play some really good football on it."
He is also aware that teams raise their game against West Ham at Upton Park, and adds:
"At home teams play really well against us so it was good to pick up those three points on Saturday."
Looking at the defeat by Fulham in the FA cup last week, David adds:
"For 70 minutes it was a good performance but against a side like Fulham you can't keep not taking the opportunities that come up, because eventually they will punish you - which they did.
"We only had ourselves to blame but the league is more important and we bounced back at the weekend."
