Karl Duguid, West Ham United And The Legend Of Bobby Moore

Karl Duguid has decided to link his Testimonial Year with the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK. Karl is looking forward to a great game with West Ham United FC at Layer Road on Wednesday, 28th July 2004. Karl feels that there could not be a better charity to be associated with than the Bobby Moore Fund because of the West Ham and football connections of the late, great Bobby Moore.

Karl confirmed that after the game next Wednesday there would be a collection as fans leave with all proceeds going to the Bobby Moore Fund and that during the year, at his dinner and golf day, there are plans for further fund raising for the Fund.

Karl would like to thank all that are going to support him in his Testimonial Year and would like to ask everyone to consider a donation to the Bobby Moore Fund to support vital research work into bowel cancer.

He said: "I am delighted that that we have been able to link up with the Bobby Moore Fund for my testimonial year. Bobby was a real legend in the game and it is important to me that, during the next twelve months, my testimonial events also raise money for a very good cause.

"Cancer has affected my family and most families know someone who has suffered with the illness. By making donations at next Wednesday¹s game, Colchester and West Ham supporters can play their part in helping cure the disease."

In the 11 years since Bobby died the Fund has raised over £3. Million for bowel cancer research, however, there is still much to be done.

Laura Camp, Events Executive, The Bobby Moore Fund, says: "We're delighted that Karl had chosen to support the fund during his Testimonial Year.

³Bowel cancer is a highly curable form of cancer if caught at an early stage. Unfortunately, the symptoms of bowel cancer can often go unrecognised and the cancer progresses to an advanced stage if left untreated.

"Forty- five people die every day in the UK from bowel cancer.  With the support of people like Karl our scientists will cure the disease faster."

Please look out for the Fund's Tee Shirted collectors as you leave next Wednesday and support The Bobby Moore Fund.
