Hayden is looking forward to linking up with Teddy when the squad returns to England next week after the final game of the Swedish mini-tour, and says of his capture:
"I think it is a positive step; he is a proven goal scorer and an established England international, so it is exciting to get someone like Teddy."
With 5-0 and 3-1 wins behind them, Hayden is enjoying the friendly campaign so far and says:
"It has been okay and we are all working hard out here trying to get our fitness right, which is the main thing.
"We have had a couple of games and it is always good to get the first one of preseason in; we have had a couple of good results so things are going fine."
He says it is time to put the disappointment of Cardiff to one side, adding:
As for whether Hayden, who played some of last season in defence, will bed down to a permanent midfield position next season, he says:
"You would have to ask the gaffer that question; if he wants me to play midfield, fine, but if not I will be ready. "I am feeling positive; the squad is looking good and everyone is raring to go.
"We know how disappointed everyone is from Cardiff but at the same time we are optimistic and looking forward to the new season."
