He hails Bobby's first goal in the second game of the mini-tour in Sweden on Thursday evening as "world class", enthusing:
"Marlon and Bobby looked terrific tonight; he got what, at any level, would be considered a world class goal.
"It was a tight angle and he really had nothing to hit and no one in the box.
"So he chipped it into the far corner and it was a really class finish.
"We were well pleased with that and the performance was spot on - we were solid.
"Marlon also got a terrific individual goal and those two look on song early doors, which is good news." West Ham faced top class opposition, and Alan adds:
"They are a really good team, fourth in the Premiership, so we played very well tonight.
"The performance was a little bit higher than I expected at this stage, to be fair."
Another player deriving great benefit from the trip in Sweden is Steve Lomas and Alan explains:
"Steve Lomas has had a great start to preseason - it has been a long time since he has completed one and I know that is a big goal for him.
"He is well on target to do that."
