Says Roger Cross:
"Steve didn't suffer any after effects and Rob seems okay; both will train tomorrow."
For Steve, it is another step forward on what has been a long and frustrating journey following ankle problems which he has overcome, and he says:
"About three or four weeks ago I was coming along, and had a couple of reserve games before I slightly strained my groin - which is one of these things you pick up when you are coming back because your muscles aren't used to doing the long things and you end up doing a bit more than you should.
"Obviously that was a little setback but now, from joining in training, getting part of the game today in, I will train the rest of the week and hopefully get a few more reserve games.
"If I hadn't had the four weeks break for my groin I would have said hopefully I would have got three or four more reserve games in by now in that period and I would have been feeling more like my old self.
"At the moment, though, I haven't had enough training and I haven't had enough games.
"Hopefully I am looking at a month of training pretty hard and getting some games in amongst them, all being willing with the little ailments that I have got.
"That is my aim at the moment, getting some continuous hard work in, not stop start.
"Then I can re-evaluate then which will probably take us to the end of February, so there is March, April, and May - when hopefully I will be involved at some stage."
Daryl McMahon, with a penalty, was West Ham's scorer.
