Keeper Signs

West Ham have signed Arsenal goalkeeper Rami Shaaban on a short term loan basis.

Revealing the deal for Rami, who is eligible for the weekend and can also play in the FA cup if required, Paul says:

"We are very grateful to David Dein and Arsenal for their assistance in allowing us to take him this week.

"He has signed for an initial one month loan."

The Swedish-Egyptian has recovered from a broken leg sustained late in 2002 which has hampered his progress of late, but he has played for the Gunners since joining from Djurgardens IF in Sweden in August 30th, 2002 for an undisclosed fee.

Rami made his first-team debut for Saltsjobadens in Sweden aged just 19. He gained experience playing in Africa by spending brief spells with two Egyptian clubs, Zamalek and Thadosman.

In 1997 Rami returned to Sweden and joined Nacka FF for two seasons before moving to Stockholm's Djurgardens in 2000.

He made his debut against Tottenham at Highbury on November 16th 2002 and has also faced Roma and Manchester United amongst his five starts for Arsenal.
