Christian Dailly and Tomas Repka both remain doubts for
Saturday's visit of Cardiff City.
"Christian has got a really nasty wound at the front of his head and we will have to patch it up tomorrow and see how he copes with it," says Alan Pardew.
"It is not an ideal position for where he plays, but he has already told me he wants to play.
"I can't see how we are going to pad it, but he will probably have some contraption on his head if he is out there."
As for Tomas, who missed Tuesday's visit of Fulham due to illness, he adds:
"I am hoping Tomas is going to be okay but he is touch and go."
