"We have six cup-tied but there will be a few faces starting among those that were rested on Saturday," says Alan Pardew.
"Obviously they will be looking to put in the performance that they did last time, which was top drawer.
"I genuinely feel we have a squad now big enough to cope with the rigours of whatever the division one campaign throws at us.
"We have dealt with it successfully so far in the last period of the season and I think that can continue."
Neil Mellor returns after tonsillitis, and Alan adds:
"Neil Mellor is fine but the doubt we have is Tomas Repka, who didn't train today, and is not feeling particularly well.
"We are sweating on him a little bit but hopefully he will be okay."
Adam Nowland, Jobi McAnuff, Nigel Reo-Coker, Bobby Zamora, Andy Melville, Jon Harley, and Pavel Srnicek are all ineligible.
Chris Cohen returns after the injury that ruled him out of going with England U17s to Portugal, while David Forde is on the bench for the first time.
SQUAD: Bywater, Forde, Deane, Carrick, Connolly, Horlock, Dailly, Repka, Lomas, Carole, Harewood, Mullins Etherington, Lee, Quinn, Mellor, Ferdinand, Cohen, D Noble.
