Rob, who signed a one year contract when he arrived at the start of the season, admits:
"You never say never; I will wait until the end of the season and see.
"I have missed more games this season than I ever have in my career so I would rather wait to the end of the season and then review it then, I think."
Rob's rehab continues apace, and he says:
"I am almost there, about a week or so away but still a little bit sore in my knee.
"I am progressing slowly but I want to come back when I am fit, not when I am half fit and make myself look a fool - so it is a fine line, really.
"I have another reserve game on Wednesday, at Ipswich, and I am going to try and play 90 minutes in that, keep progressing and hopefully be available in a couple of weeks."
As for the FA cup draw away at Old Trafford again, Rob says:
"That would be nice but we have to think about Fulham first, which is not going to be easy.
"At the moment the lads are finding it easier away from home than they are at home so it will be tough.
"Everyone will be concentrating on getting through the replay before they think about Man U.
"That is the trouble, when you get a glamour draw before you have the replay; everyone is going to be talking about the Man U game but at the moment we haven't got a game with Man United, we have got a game with Fulham first - and until we get past that our thoughts should be on that."
Next up, of course, is a game at table topping Norwich, and Rob feels West Ham can keep their recent good run going.
"In the league it is going very well; we are looking very, very good, especially away from home, as if we can win most games.
"The lads that have come in have done well and we have got competition for places - which a club like West Ham should have."
Rob is looking forward to working with the fresh young talent that has come to the club since he has been out injured, and he adds:
"At the moment I am not helping them at all because I am always injured, but it is nice to have young lads around you.
"They are enthusiastic, they want to play, and it is good to have them around the club."
