David, a Scottish U21 international midfielder who signed from Arsenal a year ago, is looking forward to getting some match action against Watford - for whom he played on loan two seasons ago.
"I think it is more of a trial to go on loan - it is definitely what I need because I haven't played for West Ham for a while," he says.
"It is for match practice more than anything; I am not match fit and I need to get some games under my belt."
Ironically, competition in the midfield has increased since three Wimbledon players - Nigel Reo-Coker, Adam Nowland, and Jobi McAnuff, signed recently - but David insists:
"I am still feel I am good enough to make it at West Ham."
David has made one start this term, and has also appeared three times as a substitute.
