Darren Goes Back To Palace

DEFENDER Darren Powell has returned to Crystal Palace after his loan spell ended following the Preston game on Saturday.

During his month long stay at Upton Park Darren made five first-team appearances and scored on his home debut in the 3-2 win over Watford. Alan Pardew thanked the 28-year-old centre-half for his efforts on behalf of the Hammers, but with Malky Mackay back to fitness and Christian Dailly close to a return, the Club's defensive cover is almost fully restored.

"Darren has done a terrific job," said Pards, "and I'd like to thank him for all his hard work since arriving at the Club.

"He made his debut for us in a very difficult game at Millwall and has done very well, bringing experience and physical presence to the centre of our defence.

"Darren was brought in as cover to take us through until Christian Dailly was ready to come back and Christian is almost there now. With Malky Mackay also back to fitness after his calf injury our options at the back are looking a lot better now.

"Darren has gone back to Crystal Palace and we wish him all the best."
