Christian Dailly Lights Up Oldchurch Hospital

Hammers defender Christian Dailly, still recovcring for the knee injury that has kept him out of action for most of the season so far, visited Oldchurch Hospital in Romford, Essex last Saturday, where, along with the Lady Mayoress of Havering, Louise Sinclair, he switched on the hospital's Christmas lights.

Staff and patients gathered to see Christian hit the switch and then sign autographs and pose for pictures. He then visited five areas of the site that had been given a makeover that day by willing teams of staff and volunteers.

Christian then visited the children's inpatients unit - Treasure Island, where kids and their parents were keen to talk to Christian (even the non West Ham fans). He spent time with the patients and signed more autographs then it was time to go.

Trust Board Non-executive Director, Mark Hicks, who showed Christian around the site said: "We were so grateful to Christian and the Lady Mayoress for coming along to switch on the lights and see what we had done that day with our DIY projects. It was also very kind of Christian to spend time with the kids at Treasure Island. It certainly brightened up their day, one little girl who didn't want to stay in overnight, even managed a little smile for him."
