He had a setback last week when he wasn't able to play in the reserves, but he came through a private friendly game with Peterborough on Wednesday, and Peter Grant says:
"He played and it is just a case of him training between now and the weekend.
"Hopefully he will have no reaction and can come back into the squad for Burnley."
His return will be a massive boost to an injury-hit squad - and of course pep up the competition in midfield.
"You look at the end of last season when he became a major player for us at a difficult time," says Peter.
"Hopefully he can do that again this campaign because he was looking good in preseason.
"Unfortunately on his first day back on our own training ground after the tour he picked up an injury.
"So it will be good to have him back fighting fit to be in the squad - and the team."
