"I was very pleased with the win, as was everyone - we deserved the win," he says.
"I am just trying to get my game back and do well for the team."
Marlon crashed a strike against the upright on Saturday that rebounded with such ferocity it struck Nigel Reo-Coker in front of goal - and flew wide.
"I was very unlucky with the shot that hit the post," he shrugs, "but that is how it goes and in the next game I will try and put it in."
His main concern, though, is with the team, and he adds:
"We bounced back after the Wigan game and that is what football is all about."
He knows there is plenty of competition up front - even without the injured Bobby Zamora, Sergei Rebrov had to settle for a place on the bench - and adds:
"We have got the players at this club to be finishing loads of goals."
He also knows there are plenty of youngsters coming through the ranks, and adds:
"The lads that have come in have done really well, which is how it should be."
