"The Championship is such that everyone is going to beat everyone, like Leicester - who are my favourites to go up - losing to Millwall last week," says Tony.
"A lot of teams will be trying to sort themselves out in the first 10 to 15 games and you will see them pushing on from there."
He is backing leaders Wigan, though, to continue their early season success and explains:
"Wigan are a good footballing side and haven't made many changes from the squad last season - which is probably why they got off to a good start.
"We definitely have to bring someone in because you can't fall too far behind when you are chasing one of the top two spots.
"The problems are there to be seen and solved and that could be by changing the system and playing three at the back or going into the market - which I think Alan will probably do."
As for the two new arrivals up front, Tony says:
"Sergei plays more in Teddy's kind of role and Teddy has been in the best form of them so it looks like Teddy and one other.
"Sergei likes to drop off like Teddy but I don't know if it will be possible that the two of them play together."
