"They are a good side that have been together for a while now and they are going to be up there at the end of the season.
"So when it comes to those games you don't want to be giving them any points," he says, looking back on the 3-1 home reverse to the Latics in which he scored the consolation goal.
"It was disappointing; it has been a tough old week with three games in seven days and I don't know if that might have contributed but we all know it wasn't good enough if we want to be challenging for the league.
"It is not the greatest start but it is early days after three games in seven days and there is a determination to get up the table."
Bobby, who has come on for Marlon Harewood in all the games so far this season, knows his goal could edge him nearer to a place in the starting line-up at Crewe.
"I have given the gaffer something to think about; for myself, obviously, I want to be playing," he says.
"If I can come on and do little bits and pieces and work hard that will lodge in his mind. Everyone wants to be starting and playing first team football.
"The goal gave us a bit of hope but unfortunately the chances we created didn't come off."
