Mitre Puts Money In Clubs’ Pockets

MITRE have agreed a new deal with The Football League that puts money back into the clubs and provides footballs for their local  schools.

Under the three-year package, Mitre will pay a royalty on every one of their footballs sold through club shops, a revolutionary scheme which lets fans put money directly into the clubs they support.

Last year more than a million Mitre balls were purchased at sports shops.

This ground-breaking package sees Mitre strengthen its position as the UK's leading ball supplier and continue as Official Ball Supplier to The League.

Mitre are also supporting The League chairman Sir Brian Mawhinney's 'Balls for Schools' initiative by giving away 720 balls to be used to encourage youngsters to start playing the game.

'Balls for Schools' is a series of 72 regional competitions for schools. Mitre will donate 10 (ten) balls to each of the winning teams.

Mitre marketing manager Paul Bell said: 'We have worked hard with the Football League to come up with this great package.

'Mitre recognises the fantastic work The League and its clubs do for football, and we are proud to continue our relationship with them.

'We hope this innovative agreement will benefit all the clubs and young players coming through their youth development programmes.

'We are also delighted to support Sir Brian Mawhinney's 'Balls for Schools' project which is so vital to the grassroots of the game.'

Sir Brian said: 'The League is delighted to be continuing its successful partnership with Mitre.  The outstanding quality of their footballs is recognised throughout the game.

'I also welcome their positive contribution to our 'Balls For Schools' initiative.  By providing footballs in this manner Mitre and The Football League are doing what they can to keep the next generation fit and healthy.'
