Looking at the weekend action, he says:
"It is just a game; all games are important because you have to win them all, don't you?
"We are treating it the same as any other game but we know we have to win because our destiny is in our own hands.
"We have to do a job and the lads are up for it tomorrow.
"There are only a few games left and we want to get in the playoffs.
"I don't feel tension, really; we are professionals doing our job.
"I was speaking to a couple of supporters last week and they were saying 'it is nervous' - but I think the fans get more nervous than the lads.
"We are confident in our ability and we go out there and do our best - and hopefully our best will be good enough on Saturday.
"We take responsibility for what we do and everyone gives 100% and we think we can beat Stoke even though they are not bad at home.
"Maybe the pressure has got to other teams a bit but we just have to keep plugging away and I am confident we will get in the playoffs.
"I think we will rise above everyone else and play that little bit better to get in the playoffs, which is like a lottery.
"Hopefully we can kick on from there."
Steve is convinced West Ham will do well if they make the playoffs and he adds:
"To be honest I was looking at the league table and the clubs above us and although I have only been playing a couple of months I have played against the teams above us in the playoff positions - and I am sure if we get in there we have got enough to beat them.
"It is exciting for me to be confident that we are good enough to beat those teams if we get into the playoffs but at the moement we are just focusing on Stoke."
Steve returned to the side against Coventry last week, replacing Pavel Srnicek after a two match ban, and he adds:
"I am grateful to have been given the chance because Pav has been good - I just want to play every game.
"I get on edge when I am watching, because I know I have the ability to play.
"When I sit at home watching, say, Arsenal, I want to be playing them."
Steve pays tribute to his fellow keeper, who signed on a free transfer from Portsmouth until the end of the season, and adds:
"Pav is a good lad who is experienced and helps me in training - he tells me what I am doing wrong and advises me with Ludo.
"He has a joke and relaxes you before a game."
