Pavel Srnicek faces an important weekend as he replaces the
suspended Steve Bywater against Derby and Crystal Palace, says Alan
Pardew.
"It is a big game for Pavel; he is here until the end of the season and I think he would like to stay here and earn a contract," he reveals.
"We will see in these two games whether he is going to secure that contract.
"I think Steve has done terrifically well but certainly we are short in that department so it is an opportunity for Pavel."
Pavel was signed on a free transfer from Portsmouth until the end of the season, and Steve's contract is due to run out this summer.
"We have laid some foundations talking about a new deal and those negotiations are taking place before the end of the season, probably," adds Alan.
