Christian, who played for Scotland midweek - like Andy Melville for Wales, he captained his country - was booed by some supporters early in the game against Gillingham at the weekend, but Jon insists it is water off a duck's back for the popular captain.
"Christian is a strong character, had a good game at the weekend, and nearly scored as well," he says.
"He will take no notice - he is a good enough player to shrug all that off.
"I think he can rise above that - he is experienced enough and good enough to do so.
"He did exceptionally well for us on Saturday and as a team we felt we owed the gaffer something against Gillingham.
"He was pleased that we bounced back to put ourselves up there again."
Of the game overall, he adds:
"Going into the game we were desperate for a win and with it 1-1 at half time I thought we were doing all right.
"We need to win as many games as we can, home games especially.
"We went out for a battle in the second half and won it, so we were happy.
"There was a lot of deserved criticism about us - we didn't do ourselves any justice the week before and we had to get the three points against Gillingham."
