Harry Backs Hammers

Harry Redknapp is backing the Hammers to go up as champions this season - and is not surprised Alan Pardew wanted to come to Upton Park.

"I can see why he wants to take it; West Ham is a great football club with great support so it is a marvellous job for anyone to take," says H.

"I have got enough to worry about at Portsmouth but most of my mates are West Ham fans and I am sorry to see the situation they have found themselves in."

He is delighted that Trevor Brooking has had such an impact, and adds:

"In that division, no disrespects, I am not surprised because Trevor knows his football anyway, and they have still got better players than anybody else in the league.

"If you can't win the division with that team there is something wrong with you because you have still got people like Defoe, Carrick, Christian Dailly, Repka, and James the England goalkeeper.

"Have a look at them in the first division; I won the first division with 98 points and a team that cost £400,000 so I would think they are entitled to win it this year."

Let's hope Harry is right.
