Matt Mystified

Matthew Etherington says there is no point crying over spilt milk as West Ham look to make amends for the Millwall draw against Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening.

Matt has more cause than anyone to do just that, though; robbed of what would have been his second goal of the season by the width of a post against Millwall, had his effort gone in it would probably have sealed the win.

"It probably would have finished off the game if I had scored but it wasn't to be and there is nothing you can do about it - it is gone now; we didn't play well in the second half and it is one of those things," he says.

"I don't really know what went wrong; I don't know if it was the manager changing it at half time - we haven't really got any excuses.

"In the first half we were the better side but in the second half we weren't - and were struggling to find reasons why.

"On the pitch it was a fairly fair game and both sides wanted to win but Trevor was not very happy after Millwall - and rightly so, because we let three points slip."

"He was asking why we didn't play well and we couldn't really put a finger on it to be honest - we didn't do well enough for some reason.

"We want to be on top; that is where we should be and we must win these two games before the international break.

"Tonight is a big game which we are looking forward to, though, and we are confident."
