Reserves Beat Watford

West Ham reserves beat Watford reserves on Wednesday evening - and Roger Cross is delighted at his side keeping another clean sheet.

Greg Pearson scored the Hammers' goal, and Roger says:

"It was a good game from our point of view with a good strong back line in the shape of Trent McLenehan, Anton Ferdinand, Phil Lumsden, and Darren Blewitt.

"We were resilient, determined, and didn't give the ball away; although we weren't under severe pressure the signs at the back were good.

"I felt Phil Lumsden did particularly well and it will be even better when we get Elliot Ward back in defence after injury in the new year.

"It was particularly important to keep another clean sheet, which we did so well last season, as we don't have any prolific scorers in the reserves."

Shaun Byrne was taken off after 20 minutes and replaced by Danny Bunce, and Roger adds:

"It is a knee injury but we hope it is nothing too serious."
