Reports suggesting that he will be out for at least a month, are thankfully, not the case, though he admits that was the initial fear.
"It is just a strain on the medial ligaments of my right knee so it should be somewhere between two to three weeks," he reveals.
"It is not too bad; we feared it could have been cartilage or something like that but the results from the scan came back negative for that so it is good news that it is nothing more serious.
"I thought it would have been somewhere between four to eight weeks but if I am back in the time that I am supposed to be back I should be okay for the game after West Brom."
It comes at a time when he was getting some first team action, as in the game at Coventry on Saturday when he sustained the damage, and he is hoping to pick up soon where he left off.
"I am getting a few games under my belt now which is good," he says.
Richard has sympathy with fellow striker Neil Mellor, who gashed his leg in the reserves on Tuesday night against Wimbledon, and he adds:
"He will have to wait until the stitches heal and get back to fitness."
