"I have been offered a new contract and I going to stay," he says.
"Tony Carr, and the gaffer before he got ill, spoke to me.
"Hopefully I will be able to progress as well as I have done this season; I want to come back with a bang, so to speak, and I want to get in the side early doors."
He is confident West Ham will have a good season, adding:
"I think we should bounce straight back up with the players we have got, assuming we keep hold of them.
"You just have to get on with it, it is part of being a footballer, and everyone will be determined to get back up where we belong in the Premiership."
He admits to still feeling the shock of relegation, though, and says:
"It was too little too late but I am surprised we still went down, because around the camp we never really talked about it.
"Everyone had faith that we would do it, but unfortunately we couldn't."
The Eire youth midfielder feels Upton Park is the best place to continue his footballing education, and he concludes:
"There is great coaching at West Ham with Roger Cross, Tony Carr, Kevin Keen, and before him Peter Brabrook.
"They teach you really well and there couldn't be a better place to learn your trade than West Ham."
