Chairman Pays Tribute

Chairman Terence Brown has paid tribute to Trevor Brooking's work for the club since Glenn Roeder was taken ill - and says that Trevor will continue to take a more active role in team affairs until Glenn returns to full health.

"I would like to place on record our gratitude to Trevor for the tremendous support he has given West Ham United during a most difficult time for the Club," he says.

"Although our ultimate aim of maintaining Premiership status this season wasn't quite achieved, the continuity and stability Trevor provided following Glenn's unfortunate illness allowed us to maintain our hopes until the last day of the season.

"I would like to assure all our supporters that Trevor will continue to play a central role during the coming weeks as the planning for next season continues with our aim of returning to the Premiership at the first attempt.

"In the meantime, we wish Glenn a full and speedy recovery after successful surgery on Friday. He is receiving the best possible care and we are told he will be shortly returning home to continue his recuperation.

"We look forward to welcoming Glenn back during the summer and in the meantime repeat the Roeder family's wish that his privacy is respected."

"While of course we all acutely share the disappointment of losing our Premiership status, we hope that Trevor's continued good work until Glenn returns to full fitness gives us the best opportunity of preparing properly for the new campaign."
