"There are one or two opportunities now for Glenn to shuffle people around," he says.
"Every game the slate is clean irrespective of who the names are, if someone is not doing it you take them off.
"It is not a time for people to worry about themselves as such and with a decent bench he has the opportunity to make changes.
"No one should ever be happy at being taken off but everyone should accept it in the right way."
Proof of the strength in depth now that everyone but Nigel Winterburn are currently available is the return of Joe Cole and where he might fit in to the side.
With Jermain Defoe likely to replace Paolo, Joe, who was suspended at West Brom, is desperate to return.
"Joe, as such, was replaced by Trevor Sinclair who had a really excellent game there after admitting himself he hadn't been at his best," he says.
"He needs to keep that form for the last 10 games because he is a key player for us."
Speaking ahead of the Tottenham game, he adds:
"They beat us 1-0 at home last year with Les scoring, as I recall, and we should have beaten them earlier this season when we lost 3-2 but Joe had a good chance at 2-2.
"I thought we were unlucky to lose and thus far we might say the luck hasn't been with us - but maybe that turned at the Hawthorns and we got one or two decisions that we haven't before."
