To say that I was inspired by Marc would be an understatement. He was an inspiration, a real breath of fresh air and in a certain sense a pioneer for his country and his culture.  You can sum up Marc Vivien-Foe's: that wonderful photo of him and Di Canio hugging each other. It really sums up the warm Human being that everyone knew him to be. As a footballer he was awsome!!

I am deeply shocked and saddened by the news of Marc's death. During his time at West Ham he was my favourite player and even after he left I have always held him in high esteem. Football and the world has lost a true gentleman. RIP Marc

Marc-Vivien Foe was a great player and as far as a fan can see it, he was also a great person. He will be remembered as he a "seigneur".

I heard that his family and his little son were at the game and saw what happened. I would like every Hammer fan to think about Marc-Vivien's family. His family is devastated today but can be pround of such a great man.

Yours sincerly,

Fab, a french hammer

The way I feel today, along with many others I have spoken to is of shock and sorrow that such a tremendous man and footballer as Marc has been taken so suddenly from us.  Take strength from remembering the man your husband and father was and from how his death has touched so many people in so many places, he was greatly loved.

Marc was one of our best buys and one of the best, if not the best defensive midfielder's ever to wear the claret and blue of West Ham. This is a truly sad loss to everyone involved in and out of the game.

David Johnson
Marc, you were a great ambassador to our club and always gave 100% the world of football has lost a great player.

My heart goes out to Marc's family and friends. He will be missed by more than just the supporters of Lyon, Man. City, West Ham and Cameroon. A true gent and model professional, a credit to the game.

Michael Parks
I'm a life long West Ham fan and the tragic loss of Mark yesterday has really affected me and my family. Whem my nine year old son learned the news this morning he burst into tears. Thats how much love and respect we had for him. I'm hoping that West Ham and Man City get together to organise a benefit event to support his wife and children.

The world is a poorer place without such a talented and wonderful gentleman.

God bless you Mark!

I am an arsenal supporter but I am completely shocked how a player of Marc's physical ability and prowess can die so tragically!  I still can not believe it!  my thoughts go out to his family and friends and prayers are with you during this very hard time!  Hope Cameroon beat France, for Marc!
