"Up until last year he has been pretty free from injury but at the end of last season he had a back injury," says Kevin.
"Hopefully over the summer he will be fine and he was hoping to come back over the summer to train in preseason.
"It is great news for him and obviously he has played quite a few England games now; he fully deserves it.
"He is a very talented player but at the same time let's not build him up too much - the lad has got a long way to go.
"We fully expected him to be in the squad so let's hope he is fully fit so he can compete and do well."
The England Under 17 squad face Brazil, Portugal and the USA in the tournament, which takes place at Notts County's Meadow Lane.
It begins on Monday, 7th July, with Brazil v Portugal [5.30pm kick off] before England face USA [8pm kick off].
The action continues on Thursday, 10th July with USA v Brazil [5.30pm] and England against Portugal [8pm].
The tournament reaches its conclusion on Sunday, 13th July with USA v Portugal [12.30pm] before England face Brazil [3pm].
